The Handmade Studio Story
Hello! I’m Sharon Murphy. I’m a jewellery/bag designer and I live in a pretty village in Wexford, Ireland with my husband and 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 ponies.
Design and making have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
In my teenage years in the 70’s I made my own clothes, cheesecloth and denim were my staples, the colour and texture of fabric inspired me even then.
I went to college for the first time in 2002 and qualified as an interior designer, specialising in painted furniture, then I discovered jewellery and polymer clay, which took me to the US, France and the UK to take workshops with some amazing tutors. I went on to teach classes myself and my polymer clay jewellery has been featured twice in the UK magazine Making Jewellery.
I then returned to fabric and started designing and making beautiful bags with my self drafted patterns and often feature my hand crafted buttons.
Crafting and making is my therapy and brings me to my happy place.
I hope you enjoy visiting my website.
More About Our Products
I use biodegradable packaging and reuse the packaging I receive in my business wherever I can.
I source about 90% of my supplies such as fabrics and hardware from Irish businesses as I feel very strongly that if we don’t buy from our local fabric shops they will disappear for good.
